HCVS Families,

We will host our Annual Title I Meeting and Open House on Thursday, 9/3.  We will begin at 6:00 pm.  This is open for both our new and returning students and families.  We will be conducting our Open House on-line this year!  We will begin on Microsoft Teams at 6:00 pm.  The link to join will be sent via ParentSquare next Thursday at 3:00 pm.

ASVAB-10th-12th Graders
Hamilton County Virtual School is offering the ASVAB on Thursday, September 17th. You can sign up here: https://forms.gle/x32x3enzcg79MxYx6 It will be at HCVS (4302 Bonny Oaks) and starts at 9:00. It usually lasts around 1.5-2 hours.
The ASVAB is a great career exploration tool. If you are not sure what major/career you are interested in, the ASVAB scores can be used to explore what your aptitude and interests are. After we receive ASVAB scores back, we can do a career exploration workshop.
If you are interested in going into the military after high school, you should take the ASVAB. However, none of these scores will be sent to the military. You have to request them to be sent.  The first 20 students to sign up and take the ASVAB will be given a set of JBL Tune 720BT headphones!

In-person labs will not begin until the week of September 7th.  We will run two types of labs.  Mrs. Montgomery (Dean of Students) will host a lab on Mondays-Thursdays from 9:00 am – 12:00 pm.  This is a lab open to all grades and subjects.  Our second lab has teachers coming in-person.  Elementary school teachers will come in on Tuesdays, middle school teachers will come in on Wednesdays, and high school teachers will come in on Thursdays.  These labs will run from 9:00 am – 2:00 pm.
Also, if students fall more than 5% behind in their courses, these labs will be assigned to help students catch back up in their classes.

Please encourage your student to log in and complete assignments every day.  We recommend at least 20 hours per week on courses.  When students work less than 20 hours a week, they usually fall behind.
