HCVS Families,
We will not have school on Monday due to Labor Day! We hope students are developing a successful routine. As a reminder, students should aim for at least 20 hours per week in their coursework.
We have several events approaching!
From Mrs. Bridges
1.)I am sending out information about the Senior ACT on October 28th! Students will need to be at the HCVS building (4302 Bonny Oaks) at 8:30 a.m.
If you have NOT taken the ACT, you must take it to graduate. Make sure to sign up!!
If you have taken it, I would encourage you to take it again!! The more you can take it the better.
**Higher ACT scores = more money/scholarships for college!
You can sign up here to let us know you will be there: https://forms.gle/C67zTRw16fM5dGq48
Also, all Seniors who qualify as College Ready will join our SOAR club! Members receive a SOAR club shirt and are gifted a non-HCS chromebook!
College Visits
2.) LCA College Fair – at Chattanooga State gym – 9/4- 9:45- 11:00 (transportation on their own)
3.) UTC Field Trip – bus – 9/11
ASVAB
4.) We will be offering the ASVAB at HCVS on Tuesday, September 23rd. The Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) is a multiple-aptitude battery that measures developed abilities and helps predict future academic and occupational success in the military. It is administered annually to more than one million military applicants, high school, and post-secondary students. The score report is not sent to the military, unless the student/family requests it to be sent. This is open to all high school students with Juniors and Seniors having first priority. We have 40 testing spots. Any student who attempts the ASVAB will be given a pair of JBL Tune 720BT Headphones! Please sign up here.
Chattanooga Public Library Cards
Any student who wants a Chattanooga Public Library Card needs to complete this form. The cards will be sent to HCVS, and we will notify families when they are ready for pick up!
The next section of the newsletter will remain every week. This is a link to our in-person labs (beginning Tuesday,9/2) and a snapshot of our yearly calendar.
